COMMUNICATE MORE EFFECTIVELY NOW Accent Modification is NOT a communication DISORDER, but a communication DIFFERENCE. However, those with accents, both native and non-native, may experience common communication difficulties related to accent, grammar, word blending and intonation that is carried over from their original language or dialect. It is possible to have a communication disorder in addition to accent issues. In these situations, we abide by the code of conduct of the American Speech Language and Hearing Association and refer to a qualified speech pathologist licensed to practice in the state where services to treat the disorder is offered. We do offer services via telephone and webcam for accent modification services
